Hello Mark, Thanks for the response, however, as I stated in my original post I have tried updating directx, both from the normal updater and by downloading the latest 9 redist and installing from there. On both occasions I get the directx error messages as stated.

Then, you will need to also install the DirectX Redistributable "update" found on Microsoft's web site. The "Redistributable" update should provide the other DirectX levels required files as Vista might not have DirectX 9 built-in. I loaded it up onto my roommates computer which is a desktop, while mine is a Laptop and it loaded up with no issues I looked back into the "read me" and aparently I missed reading the part where the game is not compatable with any laptop or mobile components at this time.
Thanks for your help though! I won't get to play it as often as I'd like, but at least I know I don't have a defective game.
